Who We Are

Startup TNT is a community-powered, early-stage investment community that activates angel investors, supports founders, and strengthens startup ecosystems across Canada. Our mission is to be the best seed-stage investor in your town delivered through trusted relationships, disciplined execution, and repeatable programming.

Since 2019, we’ve raised $21M in capital for over 120 companies across Canada, launched 50 investment summits providing incredible insights for our stakeholders, and developed a robust network of over 550 angel investors. We offer unmatched access to influential founders, investors, and stakeholders across Canada’s innovation economy. If you like to have fun, make friends and build companies, you are in good company.

We are transitioning to a community-led operating model designed to reduce single-person dependency, improve sustainability through stronger sponsor and investor activation, and scale a consistent experience across Canada. In this model, the Regional Board provides governance and network leverage, while Community Managers lead execution and stakeholder engagement, supported by HQ shared services. This new model allows each community to foster a Startup TNT in their region that has its own flavour while leveraging the network and shared resources to focus on developing relationships that translate to impact.

Who You Are

You are likely someone who has succeeded in roles such as:

  • Community & Partnerships Manager (innovation hub / accelerator / membership org)

  • Program Manager (accelerator/incubator)

  • Events & Engagement Manager

  • Operations or Community Lead at a startup

You bring:

  • Exceptional organization and follow-through

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication

  • Good judgment and coachability on founder quality

  • Comfort working with senior professionals and volunteer leaders

Experience working within startup, innovation, or early-stage fundraising environments such as accelerators, founder communities, investment programs, or startup-facing roles is strongly preferred. Angel investing experience is helpful but not required.

We want to hire someone who understands the conditions under which capital moves and can protect investor trust while building founder pipelines, communicating timely clear information to our stakeholders.

Your Role

The Community Manager is the operational and relationship backbone of a Startup TNT regional chapter. You will run programming, keep stakeholders informed and engaged, coordinate startup pipeline readiness, and deliver sponsor value through consistent activation.

This role is best suited for a highly organized community operator who can manage many parallel stakeholder relationships and execute reliably by prioritizing simple, scalable initiatives. Your ability to be resourceful, clearly communicate the value of TNT to our stakeholders and build intentional relationships that translate to impact are needed to the core function of this new model.

Core Responsibilities

1) Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with angel investors (primary audience), founders, sponsors, and ecosystem partners.

  • Maintain consistent communications and follow-ups that keep the community informed and engaged.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact in your community and ensure a professional stakeholder experience.

2) Investor Experience & Participation

  • Coordinate investor engagement and participation tracking.

  • Support investor onboarding into TNT programming and ensure timely, high-quality communications.

  • Work with the Calgary Local Regional Board to increase investor participation through introductions, advocacy, and community activation.

  • Able to facilitate the coordination of investment summits with high energy while demonstrating strong listening skills to keep programs running smoothly.

  • Facilitate inclusive, high-energy discussions by actively listening, reading the room, and drawing quieter or new voices into the conversation.

3) Founder Pipeline & Startup Readiness

  • Source and engage high-quality startups from in the Calgary region.

  • Coordinate application intake, screening logistics, and readiness feedback using TNT’s frameworks.

  • Protect investor time by ensuring companies presented are credible and appropriately prepared.

4) Sponsorship Activation & Stewardship

  • Deliver sponsor activations tied to regional programming, ensuring commitments are fulfilled.

  • Maintain sponsor relationships through proactive stewardship, reporting, and renewal planning.

  • Coordinate with HQ on sponsor packaging, standards, and reporting.

5) Program & Event Execution

  • Plan and execute the Calgary regional calendar: summits, portfolio updates, and community activations.

  • Manage run-of-show, vendors, venues, timelines, and attendee experience.

  • Ensure events are on-brand, consistent, and professionally delivered.

6) Operations, CRM, and Reporting

  • Maintain clean CRM hygiene for investors, founders, sponsors, and partners.

  • Track engagement metrics and report consistently to HQ and the Calgary Local Regional Board.

  • Escalate risks, blockers, or capacity issues early and clearly.

What This Role Is Not

  • Not a grant-writing or primary fundraising role

  • Not an investment decision-maker role

  • Not a marketing/content creation-heavy role

What a Year Looks Like

Your annual operating rhythm includes:

  • Two Investment Summits (Spring & Fall) — You will coordinate startup sourcing/readiness, angel investor confirmations, sponsor activations, and event execution.

  • Quarterly Portfolio Updates (4 per year) — Intimate sessions for regional angels featuring 3–4 portfolio companies per event, strengthening retention and community value.

  • Sponsorship Activations (ongoing, tied to programming) — Deliver sponsor value locally through predictable activation packages linked to events and engagement moments.

  • Ecosystem Partnership Activations (region-specific) — Selective, high-leverage partnerships (not volume) that deepen integration and strengthen credibility.

This is designed as a season-based rhythm with ramp-up and ramp-down periods to allow sustainable execution and clear stakeholder expectations.
