Startup TNT is a not-for-profit that works with entrepreneurs, investors, government, and sponsors to rally communities to collaborate and invest in their top startups, providing them the roots to grow and reach the world from home.

Working with our communities, we have become the most active pre-seed/seed investor in Western Canada (CVCA, 2023). From a single happy hour in May 2019, we have built TNT into an organization that has:

  • Raised >$15M for local Canadian startups in five years

  • Invested into >100 Companies

  • Syndicated 2,000 cheques from >400 investors

  • Executed >30 Investment Summits

Put differently, every year we:

  • Raise millions of dollars from hundreds of angel investors

  • Screen over 300 startup deals in Western Canada

  • Syndicate dozens of angel investment deals

  • Hosts thousands of people at our events and happy hour meetups

Your Role

As the Cleantech Community Lead, reporting directly to the Community Development Lead, you will be responsible for growing and nurturing a vibrant Cleantech community of entrepreneurs, investors, and partners across all Startup TNT regions. You will be responsible for designing and executing the strategy to make the Cleantech Summit(s) national in scope with an intent to maximize the impact; both in terms of supporting Startups with capital and non-capital support; and in engaging new investors by making Angel Investing accessible and fun.

Role of the Cleantech Community Lead

  • Design and execute your strategy to build genuine and impactful community in the Cleantech sector

  • Cleantech Startup recruitment

  • Cleantech Investor recruitment

  • Cleantech partnerships and sponsorships development and management

  • Leading the Cleantech Summits

  • Portfolio Support for existing Cleantech portfolio companies

  • Attracting additional capital to the Cleantech portfolio

    • Attending conferences, events

    • Organizing capital attraction initiatives

  • Attending various Cleantech industry events for business development and community support

  • Hosting and organizing activation events outside the Cleantech Summit

  • Other Startup TNT organizational initiatives towards continuous improvement

TNT Team Responsibilities

We want the Communities Team to be a high-performing team of peers who help each other achieve their shared and individual goals. We operate with transparency and respect. We share our wins and help each other deal with setbacks and challenges. We are not afraid to ask each other for help or feedback.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, preferably with experience in facilitation of meetings and discussions, and public speaking

  • Existing knowledge of, and network in, the Cleantech Sector in Western Canada

  • Experience in the in the early-stage investment space (Angel or Venture Capital)

  • Experience with Google Workspace, Slack, Hubspot
